Whitewater Kayaking - Intermediate
Caught the kayaking bug and ready to take your skills to the next level? This course is designed for paddlers with some whitewater experience who are motivated to work on perfecting basic skills as well as developing more advanced techniques. We will begin in the pool reviewing the fundamentals of strokes, boat control, and rolling. The weekend trip will get you out on class II/III whitewater with a focus on running rivers smoothly using efficient stroke combinations for effective eddy turns, peel-outs and ferries. Other topics covered in this course may include surfing waves and holes, developing a hands-roll, basic play-boating, and rescue skills. Expect to work hard, to be challenged by new skills on new rivers, and to have more fun on the water than ever before! Pre-requisites: graduate of a COE whitewater kayak class or equivalent experience, comfortable swimming and self-rescuing in class II water AND Instructor permission required.
